Other face of the Chapada dos Guimarães

Besides the sandstone cliffs, the plateau also offers a beautiful view of the rolling hills, covered by luscious green vegetation.

Origin of the rivers

Many of the Mato Grosso rivers originate in Chapada dos Guimarães plateau. They form dozens of little waterfalls, ehancing the beauty of this place.

Chapada dos Guimarães - a Cerrado plateau

Chapada dos Guimarães is located 60 km from Cuiaba. It is a plateau that belongs to Cerrado ecosystem and offers a relief from the Cuiaba heat. It is formed by the sanstones that, as an effect of the water errosion, often have taken the mysterious shapes. This is a photo of the "Cidade de Pedra" - Stone City.

Water that sustains life in Pantanal

Cuiaba River is a part of an extensive river networks that brings this "life elixir" into Pantanal and helps sustaining its rich biodiversity.

Free as a bird

This is Jabiru Stork, called "Tuiuiu" in Pantanal. It is a symbol of Pantanal and one of more than six hundred species of the birds found in this ecosystem.
